Type of Position:
Full-time, sometimes requiring flexible hours to meet the weekly workload; direct hire

Education Preference:
Bachelor’s degree required in business, finance, accounting, marketing, or related field. Work experience exchangeable for degree in these fields. CEcD or EDFP certification or willingness to work toward certification preferred.

Experience Preference:
Two or more years of Economic Development experience preferred.

Salary Range:
Up to $92,500 salary, depending upon qualifications, car allowance, paid vacation, wellness incentive, sick time, deferred compensation program

DCEDC Board of Directors

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
• Supervises the team with specific tasks to achieve overall economic development priorities.
• Design, implement, monitor and evaluate programs that encourage economic development in Door County;
• Develop and implement policies and programs targeted at business expansion, retention and recruitment;
• Facilitate all county business attraction and retention efforts;
• Communicate the elements of the county’s economic development and redevelopment strategy to diverse groups, while building consensus as a facilitator of this strategy;
• Develop, maintain and foster key related relationships internally, as well as externally;
• Secure funding support from a wide variety of public and private investors;
• Coordinate economic development activities, including outreach, referrals, tracking and reporting, while focusing business’ attention and marketing on areas of economic development, redevelopment and capital improvement;
• Initiate targeted recruitment efforts for development areas to attract industry to Door County;
• Act as a liaison to municipal and county departments, regional agencies, state/federal agencies, and local organizations on matters relating to economic development and capital improvement issues;
• Evaluate proposals containing incentives to help broaden the county tax base, generate, or attract new capital, to increase business activity, produce employment and diversify the county’s economic base;
• Designs and oversees comprehensive workforce development and talent attraction programs, as well as ensuring programming such as Inspire Door County, Youth Apprenticeship, and Alumni Door County are implemented and their potential maximized;
• Recruit entities and/or representatives to be included in technical team meetings to review specific proposed projects;
• Write, plan, organize and coordinate the dissemination of information to the general public, communications media, public and private sector officials, industry and businesses and participate in activities associated with the release of this information to the public and provide ongoing updates on EDC activities and best practices employed worldwide;
• Compose material to be presented to legislative entities for the purpose of informing and obtaining funding and other assistance for EDC programs;
• Serve as a resource to the EDC Board and other local economic development organizations in arranging media events, press conferences, tours, celebrations; prepare speeches, scripts and other informational material;
• Provides a leadership role in developing programs and initiatives to address new trends and evolving needs of the business community such as workforce development, attainable housing, telecommunications, access to technology;
• Executes ongoing marketing program for economic development initiatives and revolving loan funds;
• Oversee operations at the Business Development Center (incubator) including annual budgeting, lease negotiation/facility improvements and modifications, supervises staff in provision of tenant services and management of Center, ensures Center is maintained, serviced, and compliant with public safety and building regulations, develops and implements a marketing plan to solicit new tenants to Center, ensures best practices are achieved with Center operations;
• Plan, arrange and coordinate related workshops, information sessions and special conferences which can include program specific reports, newsletters, studies and other informational documentation;
• Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as may be assigned by the DCEDC Board of Directors.

Qualifications:
• At least 5-7 years’ managerial experience in a related public/private, public, or private industry capacity;
• Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Organizational Development, Public Administration, Economics, Planning, or related discipline, with emphasis on administration, management and economic development;
• CEcD or EDFP certification or willingness to achieve same;
• Proficient oral and written communication skills;
• Proficient computer-related skills and in-depth Microsoft Office experience;
• Holder of valid Wisconsin driver’s license and clean driving record.
